Markus Horcher

Markus Horcher is Director Sustainability & Public Affairs at Borealis, one of the world’s leading providers of advanced and circular polyolefin solutions and a European market leader in the mechanical recycling of plastics. He is currently based at the Headoffice in Vienna, where he is responsible for driving the sustainability agenda of Borealis, including setting the strategic ambition on GHG emissions and circularity, ESG reporting, sustainability related certifications, managing the Borealis Social Fund, steering the company’s input to consultation of EU legislation, and developing business opportunities related to sustainability. His recent focus has been to drive Borealis’ transformation towards net climate neutrality as well as Project STOP, a pioneering programme initiated by Borealis to create more circular waste management systems in emerging and developing regions to stop ocean plastics at source.
