Port Tarragona is located in the southern Europe largest chemical cluster - ChemMed Tarragona. It is an area of a large concentration of manufacturing and processing companies, because of its excellent location and accessibility to the inner European markets. Both north and south poles are linked to the port via pipelines. Tarragona production accounts for 25% of Spanish chemical production and represents the 50% of Catalonia production.
Port Tarragona continues to be one of the most important and leading ports in Spain, with more than 30 million tonnes handled in 2021 - more than 60% of the traffic is bulk liquid. In addition, Port Tarragona is leading the bulk liquid chemical traffic in West Mediterranean, handling more than 15% of the total cargo moved. With first class facilities, the storage capacity of independent terminals is increasing year by year. Currently, there are more than 800.000 m3 of capacity, and we expect to increase it to 1.5M m3 in the following years. Other important characteristics include no congestion in both terrestrial and maritime sides and one of the deepest water depths in the Mediterranean.
